You see, the drums are the main obstacle to recording a song with drums (at least that's how I see it). So while such language may seem a little excessive and more importantly, absurd, the removal of such a redoubtable obstacle inclines me to make use of extreme metaphors. I didn't actually destroy the drums, as you can see from the picture. Rather, in crafting a drum track by meticulous effort, I destroyed an impediment to progress. So in this case, the creation of one thing is the destruction of a related thing, which is embodied by the created thing.
